In order to carry out the hair coloring procedure, you need to purchase not only the dye, but also an oxidizer for it. On the oxidizer, you can see various numerical designations - a number with a percentage sign or the letter vol. What does it mean?

Vol and % are different systems for indicating the percentage composition of a professional oxidizer. % is the percentage of pure hydrogen peroxide in the oxide.

Vol is the volume of oxygen released.

Which oxidizing agent should I choose for which type of coloring?

1.5% = 5 vol. This is a low percentage oxide for tinting previously bleached or natural hair. It is recommended for light color renewal. It is not suitable for coloring gray hair.

3% = 10 vol. This oxidizer is used in the process of coloring hair tone-on-tone, darker or for toning.

6% = 20 vol. This percentage of oxidizer is suitable for lightening by 1-2 tones and is the most popular for gray hair coloring.

9% = 30 vol. This oxide is used for lightening hair from 2 to 4 tones.

12% = 40 vol. It is most often used with professional dyes of a special lightening group (11, 12 row) and raises the lightening background by 4-5 tones.
